This Privacy Policy describes how Little School (“we”, “us”) collects, uses, and protects information through the Little Schoolmobile app (“the App”). The App is a private classroom communication tool used exclusively by enrolled families and school staff.
1. Information We Collect
- Account information: parent or guardian name and email address, provided during account setup.
- Student information: your child's name and classroom, provided by the school when your account is created.
- Messages: text messages you send to the teacher through the App.
- Device token: a push notification token so the App can deliver updates to your device. This token is not linked to your identity outside the App.
- Classroom content: photos, notes, and updates shared by the teacher. Parents do not upload photos through the App.
2. How We Use Your Information
- To operate the classroom feed, portfolio, and messaging features.
- To send push notifications when the teacher posts a new update or replies to a message.
- To identify your account and link it to your child's classroom.
We do not use your information for advertising, marketing, or any purpose unrelated to classroom communication.
3. Information Sharing
Your information is visible only to your school's teacher and administrative staff, and to no one else. We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties.
The App is built on Sanity (content platform) and Vercel (hosting). Both services process data on our behalf and are bound by their respective data processing agreements.
4. Children's Privacy
The App is designed for parents and guardians, not for use by children directly. We do process the names and classroom photos of enrolled children at the direction of the school, consistent with FERPA and COPPA requirements. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13.
5. Data Security
Passwords are never stored in plaintext. All data is transmitted over HTTPS. Access to your child's information is restricted to your account and the school's staff.
6. Data Retention
Your account and associated data are retained for as long as your child is enrolled. You may request deletion of your account by contacting us at the email below.
7. Your Rights
You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data at any time by contacting us. California residents have additional rights under the CCPA.
